10 Sep 2008 - SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER

Welcome

Welcome back to the start of another new school year, especially to the parents and pupils who have just joined us.  The start of the new school year brings exciting changes to the curriculum for pupils in the Foundation Phase and for pupils in the juniors.  Staff of the school will be informing you of the topics pupils will be studying this term, so that you can help your child at home.  During the holidays most areas of the school have been decorated and new carpets laid.  We encourage pupils to take a pride in keeping the school environment (both inside and out) neat and tidy.

Breakfast Club

A reminder that our Breakfast Club which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government is open to pupils from 8.15 a.m, all who attend must arrive by 8.30 a.m. and must have breakfast.  There is no charge for attending the club or for the

food.  Children will be offered a choice of cereals, toast, and fruit juice.

Harvest

We plan to hold our Harvest Service at 9am on Friday 24th October.

School Photographer

The school photographer will be visiting the school on Tuesday 30th September.  If you wish to bring younger brothers and sisters to school for group photographs please bring them in by 9a.m.

Holiday Dates

The half term holiday begins on Monday 27th October to Friday 31st October.  The Autumn Term ends on Friday 19th December.

Prefects

A number of pupils in Year 6 have impressed staff with their behaviour and attitude and therefore we have selected them to take the role of prefects for their final year at Morriston Primary School.  We expect these pupils to help staff by being good role models for our younger pupils and also to take on responsibilities throughout the school.  Our new prefects are:- Paige Grindrod, Hannan Hafeez, Laura Farrell, Daniel Protheroe, Sophie Nordhoff, Steven Sturley, Aimee Kesans

School Council

An election was held at the end of the Summer term and the following representatives were elected to represent their year groups on the School Council:-

Year 2 – Lewis Williams & Paige Davies

Year 3 – Bradley Jones & Emily Nichol

Year 4 – Chloe Lewis & Ira N’Go

Year 5 – Luke Maddock & Rahman Hafeez

Year 6 – Corey Griffiths & Keirran Sutherland

STF’s – Bethan Howarth & Paul Jones

The School Council meets regularly and is actively involved in discussion and decision making within the school.

School Uniform

It is pleasing to see that the majority of pupils are wearing school uniform.   Please contact the school office if you require items of uniform.  It is important to remember to write your child’s name on each item of clothing including their coats.
