About our school...
Morriston Primary School is a local authority maintained school which serves the area of Morriston in Swansea. The school is a 3-11 primary school and includes a nursery and a Specialist Teaching Facility (STF), made up of 2 classes, catering for pupils with Statements of Special Educational Needs (SEN). Children are admitted to the nursery, on a part-time basis, after their third birthday. There are currently 200 pupils on roll, including the 27 children who attend the nursery.
The school aims ‘to provide a learning environment that is happy, secure, caring and stimulating where the child has a clear sense of belonging; to ensure that pupils receive a broad and balanced curriculum, that is matched to their stage of development and is an amalgam of learning strategies to allow them to achieve their full potential.’
The school was last inspected in October 2003 and the standards in all areas of learning and subjects were judged to be either ‘good’ or ‘very good’. The school was judged to have ‘high expectations of standards and use a range of teaching techniques and strategies to promote pupils’ learning.’ In recent years the school has focused on developing skills across the curriculum and we have successfully gained the Basic Skills Agency ‘Quality Mark’ and the ‘Healthy Schools Award’.
